Initially an El Buen volunteer, Belkis Melendez chose to work as our Primary Needs Coordinator because she thinks this program gives opportunities to the low income families and immigrants without any distinction concerning race, gender or social status. By the beginning of May of this year, the food pantry had already served more than 12,000 people. When asked what her favorite part of her job is she said "Every time I see someone smile because of our help, I get a feeling of satisfaction like no other."
