Mental Health and Social Services Program
The Mental Health and Social Services Program of the Wallace Mallory Clinic provides the necessary resources to help individuals maintain their emotional and physical well-being through integrated mental and primary care. Staffed with bilingual, licensed mental health professionals, the program offers:
- Client advocacy
- Counseling for individuals, families, adolescents and couples
- Referrals for social services
- Depression and anxiety support groups (See Caught in the Middle below)
El Buen's leading program for depression and anxiety support is Caught in the Middle.
A psycho-educational support group held at the International High School, Caught in the Middle is designed for immigrant adolescent girls who have recently arrived to the United States from various Latin American countries. The focus of the program is to assist and educate the participants on topics that may affect them in their transition from their native country to the United States. The program focuses on identifying the difference between the two cultures, with an emphasis on depression, anxiety, stress, peer pressure, self-esteem, eating disorders, family dynamics, family conflicts and academia, encouraging the participants to become successful members of their new community.
