The Child Learning Center at El Buen Samaritano provides a pre-literacy program for the children of adults enrolled in education or exercise programs on our campus. Our volunteer opportunities include:
Childcare Assistant (Daytime and Evening) Volunteers are needed to work alongside staff to instruct young children (infants to 5 years old) and assist with games, projects and other daily activities. We are looking for assistants who adore working with children and who are caring, attentive and responsible. During the summer session, volunteers will also have the opportunity to work with 6-12 year olds in the “Summer Fun” program, an 8-week summer camp for school-age children.
Requirements:
Volunteers should be at least 14 years of age.
Bilingual skills are helpful, but not required.
An 8-week commitment is preferred , but special accommodations can be made for short-term volunteers when necessary.
Volunteers must assist in the CLC for a minimum of 1 hour per week.
Long-term CLC volunteers are required to attend the 3-hour Safeguarding God's Children training offered by the Episcopal Diocese, but can begin volunteering before completing this training as long as they are supervised by a certified staff member. We have a great need for CLC volunteers during the following hours:
Daytime: Monday, Wednesday and Friday: 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 noon
Evening: Monday, Tuesday and Thursday: 7:00 p.m. - 8:30 p.m.
