Thank you for your interest in volunteering with El Buen Samaritano. With more than 500 volunteers each year, our volunteer base is an invaluable means of support in achieving our mission within the community. Volunteers in the various departments at El Buen work closely with staff members and often provide essential one-on-one contact with our clients. We are always looking for new faces to welcome into our programs, and we offer a variety of volunteer opportunities to accommodate those who are interested in devoting time and energy to our organization.
We welcome volunteers from all walks of life, from high school students to retired seniors, and attempt to find the perfect placement for each and every volunteer. Although many of our clients are native Spanish speakers, we do not generally require Spanish skills of our volunteers. Our entire staff is bilingual in English and Spanish, and therefore can offer language support to our volunteers as needed. However, since some of our volunteer opportunities involve direct communication with clients, we may ask that some positions be filled by those who have at least an intermediate mastery of the Spanish language.
* Please Note: Given that our mission is to serve working poor Hispanic families, we request a certain cultural sensitivity from all of our volunteers. We hope that each and every volunteer who contributes to our efforts will share our passion for helping underprivileged families without judgment.
Please see the descriptions below for more details about specific requirements for each position. If you have further questions about an opportunity, please contact the Community Relations Coordinator, directly using the link below.
